Adidas promo!

Ok, so I’m beginning to be partial towards the Adidas brand since I’ve been buying so much stuff from them recently. When I started getting into cycling, I loaded up on clima-cool shirts. I also got some cycling specific Adidas apparel (gloves and shorts) from Velocity, Cartimar. ¹ Besides, have you seen their stuff lately? Awesome designs! I totally would’ve preferred their document credit card/checkbook organizer over my much more expensive Oakley one – if only they had released it sooner.

I found that Adidas is my “Zara” when it comes to sports; their stuff simply fit me better than the Nike’s ² Their shirt’s sleeves tend to be too long for narrow shouldered people like me. et all.

Cris and I will be going “Pinatubo trekking” with her highschool classmate in a few weeks, and I thought I’d invest in a good “all-mountain” shoe that can be used for MTB riding as well (because using cleated shoes is difficult on trails etc.). I’ve been considering a model called TerreX but was contemplating if it was worth its 3.5k price tag. The Terrex was appealing because its mostly mesh (highly breathable), and it has what they call “step down construction” which allows you wear the shoes as sandals (by just folding in the back part).

I was already considering getting it even at 3.5k, then I found out about the promo…

Adidas has this promo till the 17th where you can trade in any brand of sports shoe (Not work shoes, not walking shoes, etc.) and get a considerable discount for the next pair you buy. It can be as much as 1k if you’re planning to get a shoe worth 3k and above.

So that right there made the Terrex 2.5k (that’s roughly 30% off) – which now made it totally worth it.

Then as I was ready to get the shoe, I suddenly spotted a newer version of the pair I was [literally] wearing (Darogas) in the color I wanted ³ Already asked them about it a few months ago but they didn’t have the color I liked – so I ended up trading those in as well… and walking out of the store with the TerreXes in the bag, and new Darogas on my feet

Looking at the receipt, I was able to get two shoes worth 3.5k each for only 5k. Considering you can get a single pair for that much, I say its a pretty damned good deal.

What’s interesting is that when I heard about the promo, the first thing that came into my mind was “What if you have one of those GH shoes that go for 400 pesos?” Guess what, someone asked about it, and the staff said that they accept them as well!

So for all you people who want to “game” the system, go right ahead, I won’t judge you. I didn’t feel bad about giving my original pairs because of all the blessings I have been given recently. But if I had some angst against the system, I’d definitely trade in used GH pairs instead hahahaha.

Either way, the shoes will be given to the “Itas” c/o the Pamulaan Center for Indigenous People Foundation – so you’ll still be doing a good deed regardless of how you, aherm, “take advantage” of this promo 🙂

I’m excited for the person who’ll get my [Puma] Nu Mostros and Adidas Darogas; they’re still in very good condition – and the former actually costs more brand new than the shoe I replaced it with hahahaha.
