You can never have too much “space”

While working yesterday, I rebooted to this:

After isolating the problem (as you saw from the video), I felt compelled to do something about it.

First, obviously, was just getting through the day with one monitor… which proved to be very difficult.

Oh dear; this simply won’t do!

As a programmer, when you get used to a certain layout optimized for your workflow, it’s pretty much impossible to be as efficient once you go back to a single-monitor setup. Almost all my tasks for work (or play) are very dual-monitor centric. In fact throw in a 3rd monitor in there and I’ll probably find a use for it. Having “more” is always good… and you can never have too much “space” – when it comes to screen real estate.

So I decided I needed to get another one… the catch is the VX922 is such an old model that no one carries it anymore. Luckily, the newer models such as the VX2262 are even cheaper (by several thousand bucks) today. So I sprung for the newer model.

Better, but something still doesn’t feel right…

Nice and wide, and the bezels are much thinner than before… so much thinner that it just made sense to give it a companion.

Now we’re talkin’!

  1. They’re both sitting in the living room… awating their fates (which I’m still contemplating)

I figure I could sell the working one, or just give it to a family member who needs a bigger screen.

    Dunno yet what to decide.

Have a say
