Christmas Loot

I was supposed to do the whole retail pornography session of the stuff I got myself for Christmas. I’d usually take pictures like crazy as soon as they got here… but I realized there was just too much work involved in taking pictures of that much stuff – so I decided to just link to relevant images/videos to explain what each of them does – that way I could also minimize the commentary on each item.

I’ll probably still take pics of them eventually – but not necessarily for this post. But since I no longer have to wait for them to arrive, I thought I’d just post about it anyways (since I’m woefully behind on blog updates)

PLX Devices 2340 KIWI Wifi

I’ve been meaning to get this for a while now, but always put it off for various reasons. Well now I decided to get it once and for all and be done with it.

Travelon Coat Rack

While I’m sure I’ll still be hanging clothes by the window once in a while, this is really for my jacket; which I always have in my car.

Kensington PowerBolt Duo

Just another one of those DC to USB converters. I liked it because it had dual ports that let me charge more than one device – while being able to deliver enough for an iPad (2Amps).

TwelveSouth PlugBug

CradlePoint Travel Router

While I do have a MiFi for traveling within the city, it’s limited to cellular data. I needed a more robust solution for when I was out of the country, or in a place where I want to augment already existing networks. 1 Like if I’m in a hotel which has a single wired connection.

This portable travel router can create a WiFi network out of any type of connection (3G/4G, WiFi, or wired) – I believe it can even work backwards (create a wired connection from a wireless network).

Wurkin Stiffs & Polo Stays

I actually already have a set of Stiffs, but some of my dress shirts had really small collars that the 2.5″ Stiffs wouldn’t fit – so I got a set which had varying lengths. Also got the Polo Stays are even more useful since those types of shirts are the ones that really have unruly collars.

Remington Touch Control Shaver

I believe that demo video pretty much sums up why I got it 😉

CableJive Dockstubz

If you can get past the tacky acting in the video, you’ll see the use of this product. Since I actually use a metal case that’s pretty much permanently fixed on my phone, having this can solve potential “case-related” problems down the road.

The Sinch

Pretty self-explanatory. The only concern I have is if the magnets are strong enough to affect the headphone drivers. I wouldn’t want it ruining my $1k canal phones.

iPhone Clear back panel

It was on sale at iFixIt which bundled it with pretty useful extras – so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get a really good value out of it.

Titanium Toothpick & TubePix Toothpick Holder

I’ve far too often found myself in dire need of a toothpick when I’m in the car – or when I just left the restaurant. With these, I can now stock up on toothpicks and have the piece of mind hat should I run out of the wooden ones at the most unexpected times, I’ll still have a washable metal one as a last resort.

As to why I chose Ti and not something more common like 316L [surgical] steel – that’s just a personal preference.

CineSkates System

Again, video’s self-explanatory.

Glif +1 Pack

The CineSkates system I got already comes with a lot of “extras” – among them was the Glif iPhone mount. This is an add-on to that.
