Soldiering through

Various “recent events” that have transpired have put me in a depressive mood lately. Fortunately I was able to catch myself and get back on track. The reason for my recovery, self-serving as it may be, would be my old “perspective” posts πŸ˜‰

It seems that I have allowed myself to become a person of self-pity at some point, which is a tragedy in so many ways. 1 Because people know me not to be that type of person.

For one, considering one’s-self as a “victim” is one of my pet peeves – women are usually the culprits of these emotions, but I had realized that my self-loathing had quite frankly, turned me into a woman in a sense. Can you imagine that? Me, acting like a woman – oh the shame! And that’s exactly how I felt when I realized it; embarrased/ashamed. I couldn’t believe that I allowed myself to be caught in such a state. Nahiya ako sa sarili ko – as it were.

But to save you from all the link-bait, the bottom-line is that I simply re-discovered what I had already known and practiced; that the world doesn’t owe us any favors, we just deal with the cards we’re dealt with – and hope for the best.

Or as House would put it:

People get what they get. It has nothing to do with what they deserve.

So having come to terms with reality, I decided to take my own advice, and return to my “core” – and it has done me a great deal of good πŸ™‚ I now find solace in the mere fact that if there was anything in my power I could do to change my situation, I already have done, am doing, or intend to do it. 2 assuming there’s something I’m still missing I’ve done my part, and that gives me the peace of mind I need to get through all this even if nothing “changes.”

That, and some retail therapy!

Retail Therapy

It also helped that I was able to get some cool stuff while I was at it – like new sunglasses.

Oakley Jawbone

These glasses go well with my car πŸ˜‰ The only irk I have is that it’s too expensive for something made essentially out of plastic.

I mean my Juliet is pretty pricey at about $380, 3 Up to about 22k on retail stores at the time I bought it, got mine for about 18k but it’s got a titanium frame. And being a bike person myself, I know/appreciate the value of titanium. Can’t remember how many times I’ve dropped that pair of sunglasses, 4 Even had the lenses replaced due to wear and tear but the frame still looks new.

The Jawbone on the other hand, is $250 (16k in malls, got it for 12k), and is just plastic! Granted, it comes with a lot of extras bundled but it’s still just plastic.

Another peeve I have is that the matte white model comes with a polarized lens which adds about 3k to the cost 5 A non polarized model costs only 9.5k – and I don’t like polarized lenses because they, more often than not, interfere visually when looking at electronic displays. I would’ve wished there was a matte white model that just came with regular lenses – or better yet, just give us the option of what lenses we want to include.

My Warden seems to still be the best buy so far. Only cost me 7k, but it’s elegant, 6 That’s to say that it doesn’t look “sporty” and metal-framed.

Was also walking along Tiendesitas and found cute t-shirts that cost like 580 for 3. So… I got 6 new shirts hahahaha.

  1. Gotta love retail therapy. I plan to do some of that myself when I come home in a few weeks. Would you believe hindi pa ko nakakapunta ng Tiendesitas? Didn’t get the chance to when we were last there (2007). Let’s catch up, we’ll be there for a month so shouldn’t be a prob. Show me your ride πŸ™‚

  2. Touche Pia!

I figured since I already was being a girl anyways, might as well indulge a bit before going back to a man’s world πŸ˜‰

    Besides, I’ve done worse hahahaha

Have a say
