- If you need a fucking 6 minute instructional video for a bra, there’s something seriously wrong with the product. I’ve got a simpler, cheaper solution: DUCT TAPE.
- I would’ve let the whole thing slide if they had used a sexy model… after all, who doesn’t love boobies right?
With regards to #2: No, I do not consider my standards “unfair” as far as models go… here’s why:
A photographer friend of mine told Cris how “fat” a model was (who happened to be her friend). As usual, there was that debate on beauty being subjective, that he was being unfair, etc. etc. And his argument was (which I paraphrased below):
If you’re being paid to look good; then you better damn well try your best to be perfect. If you plan to make a career out of it… then dieting, having cosmetic surgery, etc. to “fix” whatever “imperfections” you have is not unreasonable. You weren’t coerced into the modeling business, so stop making excuses just to make yourself feel better.
As a model, if you think you’re beautiful as you are (or what the songs say), then good for you – but don’t complain if other people find you unattractive because of those same imperfections you desperately try so hard to defend… especially if you’re in the business of exposing yourself to public scrutiny.
After Cris relayed to me what he said; I agreed. Hell, even Cris agreed. It was easy for me to understand him as I had the same sentiment about [ugly] camera whores 1 And those people are not even models – but I still can be harsh hehehe. – my opinion on the matter seemed to coincide with this “truth” shared by our friend.
And just to add to the “ugly cam-whore” argument (I didn’t get the chance to say this on that post): Photos are made to be seen by people. There are very few excuses one could use for taking pictures of “ugly” subjects (whether it be themselves or others).
- Archival purposes (literally capturing the moment)
- Comedy and satire.
- You were dared into doing it.
- You were trying to highlight something which was unique to the subject/situation 2 Nude photography (i.e. ugly face, but slammin’ body!), sports photography, etc.
Sadly, in the context of “ugly-camera-whores” (or worse; ugly camera whores who think they’re doing some “cool poses”), they fail to appease any of those conditions. And that’s why I have no problems judging them; They seem to have no problem judging themselves incorrectly, so they shouldn’t mind if someone like me does the same, right?
