Rowan Atkinson and other stuff

I remember our family watched Mr. Atkinson (Mr. Bean) in one of his stand-up stints on TV a long ways back. It was arguably one of the best sketches for us. Anyways, I found it on YouTube (why am I not surprised) aaaah the memories!

Apologies

I was looking back at my other post with regards to IE users, and I realized that that rant was a little off-base and inconsiderate. I haven’t had any negative email telling me about it, but I realized that no matter how frustrated I am, I don’t want to start alienating people from this blog just because of it. So I officially take back any negative sentiments I’ve posted there, and apologize.

However, let me take this time to urge these users to at least try switching browsers. The “frustrations” I mentioned are still valid, IE is still inherently flawed because of ActiveX, and because of it’s “integration” into the system shell as a whole. 1 Because it’s tightly integrated with the shell, in the event of a security flaw, most of the time, that flaw can be exploited through IE. This is not to say that other browsers are impervious, but IE is much more vulnerable than the rest of them.

If you have the patience to wait for your email attachments to download, then it really isn’t difficult to click on this link right here, and download (& install) the said software from the official website. See, that wasn’t so hard now was it? Plus you’ve just done both the internet and yourself a favor.

  1. Does Maxthon count as under IE (since it used to be ‘MyIE2’) or under “Other”? Ilang beses ko na kasi sinubukan FF and mas comfy pa rin ako sa Maxthon.

  2. Unfortunately, I’m inclined to think so. Since Maxthon merely seems to be a sort of “skin” or extension of IE (or at least based on it), then it makes sense that it would automatically “inherit” IE’s flaws.

Try checking if it supports ActiveX. If not then you’re safe. If so, try installing this
