Scope and Limitation

The title probably won’t encapsulate what I’m about to post, but I can’t think of anything better.

Cris and I were talking – and she mentioned how she had a talk with her school’s principal. Apparently, the brass recognize her as an asset to the school and they wanted to make sure the “politics/issues” (which I’ll get into) weren’t burning her out.

There are so many things I want to say about all this 1 both directly related to the “issues,” as well as an overall parallelism with other aspects of life that I don’t know where to begin. So forgive me if I jump around trying to explain different points along the way. Read More

Ungrateful

If we would synthesize the different concepts in my various “perspective” posts about complaining, life being half-full/empty, etc., and have a comedian express those points/frustrations in a way that would magnify how ungrateful humans tend to be… It would go something like this:

I guess it all really boils down to the whole half-empty/full argument I’ve always believed in.

Open Parties

There was a post about an incident during an open party which sparked so much attention. Read about it here. And read the organizer’s side here

While it is true that a bunch of things have to be addressed with regards to the party(ies) nowadays, I can’t help but feel a tad frustrated as to how both ends of the spectrum are seeing this. To me, both sides have raised legitimate points (yes, even the whole “that’s society today” argument, to me, is valid), but I think they all went a bit overboard as to the sense of entitlement they think they deserve.

So let me try to tackle this complex issue as best I can. Read More

Attribution

I guess everyone knows about this by now.

As a musician (you know, the type who actually makes music and doesn’t just sing, etc.), I really sympathize with Mr. Granada’s plight. Bukas Palad even has one of his songs on album; and given very barat sa budgeting ang BP, 1 We wanted to include some songs by Yano at some point – but never pushed through because of fees involved it’s safe to assume that Mr. Granada is not unreasonable with his “rates/fees.”

I know the economy’s in a credit crunch and that everyone’s looking for the cheapest way of doing things. And for the most part that’s fine; they just get what they pay for. But to blatantly “game” the system the way they’re dong and screwing someone like they did Mr. Granada… that just really gets on my nerves!

Twice Blessed

So it seems the stars have aligned! 1 Sorry Katz, it’s NOT that other thing… yet. Soon, dear… I just didn’t want to talk about it until everything was set in stone; nothing worse than making a statement only to find out later that it didn’t push through.

There are two major practical investments a person would eventually have to worry about one day. One would be the roof over your head (home), and the other would be the wheels under your feet (transportation).

Of course the second is not as important as the first (since there’s always commuting), but for the most part it is a legitimate investment that will make life easier. Read More
