Pirate POV

I’m we all know how thepiratebay was raided a while back (and has since gone back up). But this particular incident really got the whole P2P community up and arms and hopefully would do some serious damage to those “legal” entities that try to bully those who support P2P.

Anyways, I’m commenting on the speech of Rickard Falkvinge, the “leader” of the Swedish Pirate Party during the Pirate Bay support demonstration.

The translation of the speech is found here

I’d really urge everyone to read it as it was a very enlightening read to how “pirates” minds work.

Question Mr. Attorney

Ok for all the lawyers out there (Punzi, anyone?), I just wanted to get your opinions on this for the heck of it. It’s no biggie really, just an article I read a couple of days ago which got my attention.

This is the scenario: A molester, is going to court because of evidence a thief sent the police (anonymously). This all happened when the thief had opened a memory card which was part of the “goods” he had stolen from the molester – who was just a “victim” at the time. The thief was apprehended from an unrelated case, but said he was the one who gave them the molester – in case you were wondering.

Now the question is: is that evidence admissible in the court?

The story was popular because… aside from the fact that people were painting the theif as a hero (claiming there is honor among thieves as he chose the moral high road in sending the evidence at the risk of being caught), there was also much hoo-haw over the legality of how the evidence was “procured.”

Last na din

I guess this is the last time I’m going to talk about this because I’m really nearing the brink of not caring anymore. Before that however, lemme link to nice blog-reads from three friends, having three different perspectives.

There’s obviously no wrong or right take on this anymore, all perspectives make perfect sense, and all are sensible people that’s why I’m sharing all three.

Thirds take– which I will add to in a bit, because he basically has the exact same sentiments I do as far as this issue is concerned. But the difference is he is still proud to be Pinoy! So at least I’m relieved to know that my attitude towards the matter isn’t because I’ve lost respect in our country.

Jeline’s take – With a nice little bit of first hand martial law wisdom from her parents

Quark’s take – which I have to say, after this post, is the perspective I’ll probably be consciously migrating to eventually.

While I believe that detaining/arresting protesters, and invoking that bullshit Proclamation 1017 is the stupidest thing a “leader in question” could possibly do, I also firmly believe the Media is in fact blowing everything out of proportion – wether it be intentional or not. Hence, they are already partly to blame for all of this.

EDSA to the nth power

The only thing I see happening is a bunch of idiots trying to put another idiot out of power… and a whole lot of other idiots trying to cash in on the opportunity.

I’ve read scenes from the Animal Farm that ran more smoothly than this.

You know something has lost its meaning when you already think along the lines of “Damn this stupid rally… how the hell am I supposed to pick my girlfriend up!?”

Face it people, the memory of the TRUE EDSA has already been trivialized/desecrated. Don’t you think it’s time for the Idiot Filipino People to move on to their next abomination?

For Christ’s sake, someone friggin’ colonize us already.

Oh and take note on which CATEGORY I chose to mark this post as hehehe.

…so help us God

I was supposed to comment on Jowi’s blog entry (hence the title), but I noticed that I was quoting and writing too much already. So I decided to just post my answer here hahaha.

It’s also a good topic actually because there aren’t any straight right or wrong answers, and would really depend on the situation, time, and the people involved at that particular moment.
