For the love of Music

I noticed that every post I make recently is either about technology or stuff related to the internet. What about my other categories? Exactly!

So in the interest of posting on a different categories and utilize those category icons I’ve prepared in the past, I will post something in the “music” section.

Anyways, my friend is submitting a demo tape (song) for some singing group – and has asked me to do the vocal track for it. Happened a while ago and it was quite an experience.

I dare not post more “incriminating” information; considering the people that may read this, baka magka-bukuhan, which is the last thing I want to happen. It ain’t my song to begin with, so I don’t want to be the one spoiling anything (if there’s anything to spoil, that is).

We recorded in the studio of our group’s usual sound engineer. I had fun not only recording, but actually watching him do the whole “sound engineering/production procedure.” I do my own sound production/engineering for my songs, and watching someone with years of experience was really a treat. I got to ask a ton of questions with regards to the technical aspects of recording/mixing/mastering – I really enjoyed every minute of it.

Oh Apple, say it ain’t so!

The best post I’ve ever read all day about the whole Apple debacle.

It’s all very well being preachy about right and wrong, but come on if every crime, no matter how small, was punished to the full extent of the law the whole population would be living under house arrest.

For those of you who don’t know what the hell I’m talking about. There’s been quite some lengthy discussion about Apple suing some kids. A little over two months ago, Apple decided to finally put its foot down and act on some people who have illegaly distributed preview versions of its upcoming OS called Tiger.

For a detailed scoop of the issue: http://www.drunkenblog.com/drunkenblog-archives/000369.html

Despite Apple having every right to take such a course of action, it seems to be gaining a lot of bad press – comparing them to Microsoft as a cold-hearted corporation.

For the buzz it has generated: http://www.drunkenblog.com/drunkenblog-archives/000473.html

Most noticeable is that Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak himself, as well as other respectable Apple software developers seem to have taken the side of the defendants (to a certain extent).

Have the terrorists won?

Having some inclination to photography, one will obviously hear or read about issues that deal with security. Particularly how photographers are usually denied the rights to taking photographs of certain places. Of course normal people would find it unfortunate, but ultimately couldn’t really care less about the plights of these photographers.

Photographers see these incidents as a big deal and never take them lightly, which is understandable – especially if they depended on it for a living.

However, when taking everything in the context of terrorism in the US, I can’t help but think that indeed, the terrorists have won. Fear has crippled the nation so much that it is becoming ridiculous… or is it?

What I’ve noticed is that though indeed there might have been unconstitutional to arbitrarily decide on which rights are allowed to photographers on specific places, I can’t help but think that sometimes any specialized group tends to merely think in the context of their own little worlds… in this case it’s the photographers. But in no way am I attacking them, since I too, like taking pictures. And I certainly want to be able to take pictures anytime and anywhere I want.

Interesting Google thing

Well, I guess it was pretty obvious that I beat every single human being in the world to the punch when it comes to nargalzius. Well except Dan Akkroyd – who actually coined the name (from the movie She’s Having a Baby, ending credits).

Having said all that, might I add that it’s worth mentioning that not only am I #1 in the results of a google search of the word “nargalzius,” but apparently, [almost] every goddamn hit it makes is directly related to me!
