The truth may or may not set you free

I received an email of someone admitting being responsible for the things I’ve discussed in my past post. I’d have to admit, the story is a little far-fetched, but as long as I can’t get to talk to the person in person, then we’ll never know now will we?

In the spirit of DECENCY, I will still keep quiet about the evidence we’ve found/gathered, hence nobody has to worry about anything (that means you to, mr/ms. hacker) as far as exposing people. Fair enough?

I need to discuss this however, because quite frankly, I think you take me for an idiot. You actually expect me to believe that story you gave? I’m 25 years old, not 5. I’ll believe it when I see the proof, everything you mentioned fits perfectly as far as any “contrived” story which attempts to come up with one central theme to tie up all the other “loose ends” conveniently. So I reiterate, it’s convenient, but far from believable. You probably had a better chance with a much, much simpler story.

But for the record… I would like to say that regardless if I believe your story or not, I appreciate the fact that you admitted your fault – and I, at the very least, want to believe that you truly will not try disrupting people’s lives again. With respect to that, I’m officially calling it quits. Don’t bother us again… ever – unless you’re prepared for an all out public investigation, and all the consequences it will have on the people you know.

And yes, I forgive you 🙂 I also politely ask you to get on with your life and stay out of mine/ours. You’re still free to post in the other site, as long as it’s constructive. Only a trusted few know which accounts are in question, so you can pretty much continue posting as a regular boardmember.

A excellent read, but still not convincing enough – though I must admit, he makes a lot of sense. I especially agree about the New York Times analogy being moot, as there was no actual experience to base anything on.

But on the contrary, how is he so sure that Apple will sue said NY Times if it should publish? I mean since he already went hypothetical in the first place that Apple would have more reason to sue. Notice that even that hypothetical situation should also be moot – since, as he himself said, the NY Times isn’t that sort of publication. I guess my point is never try to disprove anything hypothetical with anything similarly hypothetical.

Anyways, that’s all I have to say about that article… end train of thought… period.

But since I’ve gone this far… might as well speak my mind about the issue.

Extensis Suitcase X1

I was messing with my font collection so I could check out Extensis’ Suitcase X1 (pronounced “eleven”). I ended up moving so much fonts around that I wanted to start from scratch.

Stupid me, I even deleted fonts from my /System/Library/Fonts folder. But not because I had a death wish. I already had copied the said fonts somewhere and just wanted to do some sort of a “clean install” of them.

The bad part was I couldn’t copy the fonts back. Permission errors abound (which weren’t really permission related) Suddenly my menubar acted weird, apps started crashing (probably because they couldn’t render the system fonts (because they were erased).

I had no choice but to reboot… but on reboot, I couldn’t get into any GUI… I was thrown into the Darwin commandline. Sweat proceeded to pour down my forehead as I was thinking that I may just end up like Joel and his Archive and Install adventure… which I didn’t have time for. Read More

Ecto-schmecto

I apologize to the Ecto-supporters out there, but quite frankly, that piece of software you love, can be quite intrusive at times.

Since I heard Ecto was the best offline blog-manager out there, of course I had to see what’s up and give it a try. I’ve been using MarsEdit for the longest time and was quite happy with it save for one problem: You could only keep an offline cache of the last 30 posts you’ve made.

I thought “Hey, since Ecto can do Markdown too, then there’s nothing to lose.” – or so I thought.

Why do I even bother…

For the most part of yesterday evening (yes, that’s a while ago). I’ve been trying to pinpoint some “suspicious” characters in the internet. I’m positive they’re reading this… so might as well give it out straight.

This site has it’s share of comments in my posts that usually try to “attack” me as a person. Or at least aren’t constructive at all. Which is perfectly fine. I mean what do I care if you don’t believe in the same things I do? To each his own.

I’m also willing to forego the useless posts in the Guestbook which do not contribute at all but instead try to troll on some issues.

Anyways, I already had an inkling since last year, but I never really concerned myself with it. Quite frankly, I’m still bewildered at why I’m actually acting on it (or have to act on it for that matter). Recently, some users at the other site I manage are reporting some rowdy “posts.”

When I say rowdy, I simply mean that their posts seem to be trolling – you can check here for its definition.

Anyways, since that site is supposed to be a decent site, and a site I’m supposed to be “managing,” I decided to have a look-see.
