Some cool OSX apps

Time for some geek posts.

But before that, something totally out of topic: I was listening to the latest Stupid Church People podcast and would like to share something that was said about blindly accepting religion. It should be clarified though that the statement only applies to people who simply follow religion blindly – if you are confident about all aspects of your faith, then this probably doesn’t apply (though I dare say that it should, because no one should be so arrogant to assume that they are sure about something they couldn’t possibly fully understand). Anyways the gist of it was:

The trouble with religion is that it tries to kill the questions more than it tries to provide the answers.

Amen.

Now back to geekdom.

If you’re an apple user, if you do websites, if you know what’s good for you, get these apps now!

Missed the mark!

Finally! A quiz that’s all wrong! Well, at least most of it is bullcrap. I only put in bold the parts that are true.

Got this from Ria‘s blog.

Your Birthdate: July 27

Your birth on the 27th day of the month (9 energy) adds a tone of selflessness and humanitarianism to your life path.

Certainly, you are one who can work very well with people, but at the same time you need a good bit of time to be by yourself to rest and meditate.

There is a very humanistic and philanthropic approach in most of things that you do.

This birthday helps you be broadminded, tolerant, generous and very cooperative.

You are the type of person who uses persuasion rather than force to achieve your ends.

You tend to be very sensitive to others’ needs and feelings,#[1] and you able to give much in the way of friendship without expecting a lot in return.

What Does Your Birth Date Mean?

[1]: Yeah, but I still reserve the right NOT to do anything about it if I so choose 😉

Once and for all

Don’t you just love weblogs? Whenever there’s an issue, I can always go back to it and smile while I vindicate myself 🙂

A friend posted in her blog how someone she doesn’t know messaged her out of the blue in her Friendster account to engage in some mundane chitchat, only to find out that she ended up talking about me and pertaining to an issue that’ s supposed to have been resolved ages ago.

Before I continue, I would like to refer you to past posts for the lowdown of what has happened…

Then, I will continue on what has happened since then and what will happen now – once and for all.

No names will be mentioned as usual, since I still want to be a good person and give the individual a chance to back-off.

What Happened?

Here’s how it started

Here’s how it supposed to have ended

Podcast roundup

I’ve been subscribing/unsubscribing to a bunch of podcasts recently and have collected quite a list. I still try to trim it down because let’s face it – I can’t listen to all of them.

I don’t have the patience to collect all the URLs and RSS feeds for the podcasts that I’m about to mention. Instead, I invite you to go to Podcast Alley, do a search, and get more information on them… should you feel the need to do some extra research.

Another tip is that do not use iTunes’ podcast directory… at least for now. It sucks, Podcast Alley has a much, much more comprehensive listing (and frankly a better implementation in itself). You still can add the XML feeds to iTunes (4.9 and later), via the advanced function: simply select advanced > subscribe to podcast. It will probably entail more clicks, but I find it more reliable.

The reason I actually wanted to post was to promote one particular podcast called “Stupid Church People,” because they basically epitomize my whole take on the “structured” church. More info below.

Obligatory birthday post

This will also be the test-run of the footnote plugin I’ve just installed. I’ve been in contact with the developer via email, and we’re sorting out bugs and sharing notes. He was also gracious enough to give me his Ecto plugin for me to use.

Anyways, today is like any other day (as are all my b-days) difference is we had to get up at 5 past for a 6am mass. What was interesting though was yesterday. Where I had a car accident.
