Thoughts regarding blogging

I have a bunch of bloggable entries, but most of them too short – which makes them more likely candidates for some shallow twitter-esque entries than actual meaningful posts you can share with people. That’s not to say that my most of posts are of any valuable significance; but in order to explain why I personally think it isn’t enough to post one-liners, I thought I’d share how I’ve always seen the culture of blogging in context of the world wide web.

I’ve always appreciated how majority of readers take the time to visit one’s site (or clicks on one’s pane in an RSS reader) and read – as one discusses the many minutiae surrounding one’s life.

It’s that same appreciation of effort that I feel obliged to, in turn, make my posts as comprehensive as possible. Not all people will relate to what you’re saying, but that doesn’t mean they are incapable of understanding it. So rather being so brief and cryptic, I at least try to give enough information to avoid them regretting wasting n seconds/minutes of their lives reading something they couldn’t make sense out of. I have to admit I may end up making it too long and drawn out, but I always felt it better that people could read, understand, and decide if they wish to continue with the “dialogue;” than not having the chance at all.

Just like in film, literature, music, or anything that’s meant to be shared; no one can deny that a big reason they engage in their respective art is for people to appreciate it. And no matter what they say (insert all your I-do-this-for-myself-and-no-one-else, arguments here) they do want their material to get through to others. If it was really for themselves, then just write on a diary or something; never making it known to the world.

I don’t see the need to spend so much more time and money getting on the web, when you can just write whatever you feel in a cheap diary you will have with you forever and ever – after all, it’s just for yourself no?

Thank you for the kind words! I’m glad you can still get something useful out of my entries (as to what exactly, I have no idea) 😉

I truly appreciate the time you took to comment, it’s a very welcome reminder that I’m not speaking/shouting to the emptiness of cyberspace.
