In what was arguably the only interesting development that happened in the world of Soccer (hehehe), I just had to know what the hell happened with the French team captain Zidane. Just go on YouTube right now and see what the most viewed videos are.
What can I say, I’m a sucker for sports violence. In any case, it’s about high time things got messy in Soccer… gimme some more of that and maybe I’ll consider calling it football.
Marco Matterazzi called the French star the Italian equivalent of nigger, and then insulted both his mother and his Muslim background by saying he is the “son of a terrorist whore.”

Kidding aside, while I thoroughly enjoyed watching how he floored that Italian (could’ve been anyone really). In the spirit of proper “sportsmanship,” I have to wonder how the general population would take this incident. Would you think that given the reason of his outburst, people would now feel sympathy for Zidane? Hell, when I was reading up on Digg, most of them were actually defending the frenchman. Maybe they were just like me, who appreciated a good ‘ol can of whoop-ass.
I’d say that he should’ve let it slide, at least for the time being. For as long as they’re in the field, I consider trash-talk part of the game – oh and whaddyaknow, it worked didn’t it?
It’s a bummer though that the info from the lip-readers will be circulated worldwide in the following days. While the trash-talk did work… I doubt that the Italians would be content with winning the way they did – given the degree of psychological abuse they had to resort to. Who knows, maybe they will. Does it really matter?
Personally, I’d save the pain till after the game. then just wait for him by the dugout then beat the living shit out of him. That way, you don’t get penalized, and you can take your time with the poor sucker. Of course the drawback would be that, unlike what this incident has accomplished, the said sport wouldn’t be able to gain the interest of those who would normally not care.
There’s this one post I found amusing:
Sticks and stones may break my bones…
Then the replying comment said:
