Wow, suddenly a stream of posts in my blog. Talk about making up for lost time.
Anyways, here we have a topic on conspiracies, an interesting gadget, and a crappy one… read on to find out.
Operation: Conspiracy Theory
This flash video really makes one think about the whole chain of events that surrounded those fateful months of terrorism in the US.
I just posted this video because I think its something that should be seen regardless if it is true or not. Since I’m not American, I guess I don’t have a right to care that much about the whole issue, but if what the video depicted is in fact true, then I really feel sorry for the American nation… since this clearly says how the government is not “for the people” anymore. Heh – as if it was (like any other government for that matter) in the first place!
Dual SIMmetry
I wonder if they’re selling these things here in the Philippines?
Here’s another version.
If you’re wondering how these things work, then check this out
Since Sun Cellular is gaining popularity because of their uber-cheap, unlimited local calls, I’m guessing they’ll be around for a few years. Of course I’m sure that they’ll eventually be as expensive as your Globe or Smart, but not anytime soon.
That’s why its good to at least try both out. Sun lines are perfect for families who need to be in touch in the Philippines and don’t have to worry much about the cost of cellular rates.
Why the Shuffle sucks
Here’s an article that proves why the iPOD Shuffle is a stupid machine. Take note that in no way do I claim that it is not, or never will be a successful machine. Its success is beside the point – what matters is that people get it through their thick skulls that it’s a backwards product.
Many Apple fanatics say stuff like Apple has always made better machines. For the sake of argument, let’s say that this was true – which would justify them wondering why Microsoft is leading the market and why people don’t realize that they’re supporting a crappy product.
Now, if you can imagine that frustration of those Apple people mentioned above are feeling, then you now understand what the sane portion of the world thinks about the fanatics who support the Shuffle. Sure, it cheap, sure it supports iTunes, sure it looks sexy – doesn’t change the fact that it’s crappy compared to other alternatives. You’d have to be really retarded to not realize that.
Compared to alternatives like the Sandisk, obviously Apple cannot claim to be the cheapest, nor the smallest. They obviously wouldn’t dare claim to be the best equipped. The only thing now is the Apple brand and iTunes (and probably the look, but that’s really subjective). But comparing the prices – its really sad that people are actually paying a premium simple to get the brand or be using iTunes, when you can get so much more for less.
Now if they had priced that to like a hundred bucks or less, then it would probably be worth it – it would still be a crappy product, but at least it would be priced like the crappy product that it is.
You know, you may say “that’s your opinion, and you don’t have to shove your opinion down other peoples heads.” That is true. But I fear that because of the Mac cult culture, if they continue to support marketing tricks like this, it could very well spell the start of “controlled innovation.”
What do I mean by “controlled innovation”? It means that Apple may very well (as Microsoft) simply churn out stupid products for the sake of earning bucks instead of really innovating because of competition. And what’s worse is that the Apple supporters would never know that it was happening… all they would care about is “hey I have an iProduct!.
Taken from that link above:
Steve Jobs could take a dump, put it in an off-white plastic case, add two grey buttons and an LCD display, and you’d pay $600 for it. Just fucking admit it.
How very true.
When Microsoft was starting out, you’d never hear anything about their bugs or whatnot, since they have been churning out what seemed [at the time] to be legitimate innovation… and now that they’re exactly where they want to be – they now disregard that which brought them to the top: quality and innovation.
The same thing may happen to Apple – I’m not saying it will though, but if this mentality continues, then I wouldn’t be surprised if it did. It’s too early to assume anything… but big things start from small beginnings, and these signs may be one of them. Maybe along the road, Apple may very well be one of the monopolies out there that delivers crappy products. And there would be no difference between a blinded PC fanboy, and a blinded Mac fanatic.
Controlled innovation is present in any monopolized organization. Take the Philippines’ broadband providers for example. They have the ability to give the throughput, but they refuse to do so… why? So they can still use the spare bandwidth for promos. “Hey users, if you extend your contract for a year, we’ll double your bandwidth!” Whoptiedoo – you can download at say 70kbps on a decent/good residential connection here, while residential broadband in the US can average 300kbps. Where the hell is the justice in that!?
I guess I’m just really disappointed since I got my first powerbook and iPod and have grown to love Apple instead of blindly bashing it when I was still an PC user to the core… and it’s products like the Shitffle that make me glad that I didn’t make a complete “switch.”
You know what, I think I’m overreacting… why should I care so much, if people want to be retarded, then fine by me. I’m sticking to supporting the real nice Apple products like the Mini – I think that sucker’s going a long way… and is sure to make history.
