Unaccounted days

I feel strange not having posted anything for such a long period of time.

I have a lousy memory, so when people ask me something like: “remember the time when…” chances are, I don’t remember it. So I made this blog to address those times… and more

Aside from being able to look back at it in a few years and see what has happened in my life. This can also be a healing thing when I’m down and blue, since I can check out my blog and say to myself “see, it’s not all bad – you we’re able to do this and that, got yourself this and that, and took a trip to here, and there,” then I’m all right again.

Which is precisely why I don’t dwell on the negative stories of my life… not only do I not want to look pathetic to the world, but mainly for myself: because that’s not how I want to remember my life.

Though I may still jot the occasional sad/angry milestone (death of a friend or family member perhaps) but very seldom will you read any lengthy essays on those thoughts, I would’ve said never, but I recall one particular post – which turned out to be the longest of all my posts ever hehehehe.

Seldom should be fine.

Anyways, that wasn’t really the point of my post. Nor was it a dramatic introduction. This post is just for me to try to list down the things I want to remember I’ve done (or what have happened to me) since I’ve stopped blogging Decemeber last year.

Not a lot really (mainly cuz I probably forgot already hehehehe)

On money

One was my return to the world of freelancing. Good thing I was able to save up from that doomed job we had. If only I had known it would end then, I would’ve just saved and saved – and by this time, I’d probably be earning about 20-30 grand a month off of interest alone… of course, at the expense of not having my “toys” till this day (and anytime soon probably).

Anyways, after realizing that, I made a promise to myself to really save now. And that’s what I’m doing, and I’m doing well so far. Got enough toys to keep me busy (I hope hahahaha), and projects to keep me earning.

On Parties

We had our annual BukasPalad Christmas party. That was a blast as usual, especially the video Jason had prepared for us. The theme was “BP Air” so it had sort of an “airline ambiance” to it. And for the video, Reggie, who is an actual Northwest crew member, was the star – spoofing his own job. We loved every bit of it!

On Trips

We went to Balai sa Laiya again, Jowi, Pia and I (and Jay followed). Same old – same old. The food wasn’t that good, which was strange since I could’ve sworn it was the first time around. That soup however, was really something!

Jowi‘s friend had a wedding on saturday I think – and if ever it turns out to be another day, then just move all the days I’m about to mention here hehehe, I told you I had a lousy memory.

Anyways, Saturday, in Caleruega. So she [Jowi] figured that since she’d be driving all the way to Tagaytay, then why not plan a trip around the event to take advantage of the whole “out-of-town” experience.

So we went to Balai friday, and swam, and ate – I got to eat that corn-cream-soup (or whatever it’s called) again. We had ourselves a Friends marathon towards the end of the night… with a movie break at the end (The Shining).

We woke up the next day, ate breakfast, then [I] took a nap, when I came to, Jowi had already gone to Caleruega for the wedding. Pia and I finished the last season of Friends only to find out that she didn’t have the 1 hour finale. Talk about bitin!

Lunch was awesome, my preference for simple native dishes was vindicated when they served us which was arguable the best meal they could come up with… inihaw na baboy/liempo. I don’t know wether to be happy or sad – the simplest thing to cook, was the best tasting… go figure.

Jowi came back about 9-ish with Jay (a friend, and the flutist in the wedding), where we had late dinner (actually Pia and I already started), and we stayed in the deck by the hammocks playing our instruments… and Jowi watching more Friends.

I think the nice part of the recent trip was that we were the only clients that weekend. So since they we’re just cooking for us, I was allowed to request for that same nice corn soup for both nights. We could’ve done it for all the food items, but since their policy was to not serve the same food, then we thought we’d see what they had in store… and GOD HOW I WISHED WE HAD JUST TOLD THEM TO KEEP ON SERVING US LIEMPO hahahaha. Seriously guys, if given the choice, don’t let them cook the variety – just stick with the inihaw, and the corn-cream-soup thing, and you’ll be set.

On Projects

I did a redesign of http://www.bukaspalad.com. After analyzing comments from the community, designers, etc. since the site’s inception. I figured it was time to address most if not all the issues that have been raised with the old site.

From color scheme, to back-end, to implementation, to code; everything has been re-written with the intent to make it a better site overall.

Check it out and see what you think.

On Weddings

January 8 I believe, was the time when Jem, Les, and I sang professionaly (meaning we were paid) for a wedding. I wouldn’t want to expound on my take about the whole thing, because it may prove to be one of those “lengthy” episodes I would like not to remember (as I mentioned earlier). But suffice to say, it went ok. And I got to use my AKG Microphone… and I can honestly say that it is an incredible microphone! hehehe.

Plus Jem and I got to eat at this fabulous restaurant Cafe Juan-something along Kapitoyo. Their crispy binagoongan… ooooooh yeeeaaaaah!

On Movies

Oh wow, I really don’t remember what I’ve watched since December. (I’m guessing I haven’t watched anything, but I could be wrong.) I watched Ocean’s 12 last week though. I liked it, since it didn’t try to overexert itself as a sequel. In fact it was like a new movie altogether. The approach was different. The plot was ridiculously simple and a lot of humor was put in it.

It was more of a feel-good movie, if you can believe that. And I think that’s what they intended it to be, cuz if they wanted it to be profound or anything else, then I’d say they’ve failed miserably! But it’s really fun to watch.

  1. you having a lousy memory is such an understatement. you were right, Coco’s wedding wasn’t held on a Saturday. It was held on a WEDNESDAY. we went to Balai on Tuesday. I went to Coco’s wedding on Wednesday, came back to Balai with Jay, we ALL watched Friends (not just me) and we went back to Manila on a thursday (may bp practice pa nga diba?). ayan. para when you look back at the memory of that trip, tama naman ang balikan mo. and you don’t miss out on the details. 😉 at sana pareho naman ang pagkakaalala natin, diba?

  2. Hahaha, I stand corrected. Save for the we ALL watched. Since doon sa deck kayo nalang if ever. Cguro kayo ni Pia, since I noticed Jay wasn’t that interested. And I had already watched those same episodes nung nasa tagaytay kayo 😉

  3. ay, ganon? sana sinabi nyo. ayoko na rin manood nun e. 😉 hehehe… may mga ibang things na mas masaya pang gawin, i just thought that was an activity that all four of us could do together lalo na na last night na natin yun. 🙂

  4. selective amnesia. yan ang tawag sa kalagayan mo. cafe juanita. last night namin sa beach we watched my sassy girl. after the movie, ako na lang ang gising. hahahaha. can relate to your viewing of friends.

Have a say
