Inside my Powerbook

Here’s something you don’t get to see often in real life:

*damn, that’s **tight!***

The replacement hard drive I talked about in my previous post finally arrived – which now means my 80GB 4200rpm is now up to 5400rpm.

Me, being the tech-freak that I am, couldn’t stand but help the techinician do something I knew nothing about… funny that I still was able to contribute quite a lot of stuff.

I now also know that the “logic board” everyone in the Mac world talks about is nothing but a simple friggin’ motherboard – and here I was thinking that Mac portables (which is what they call laptops) had an extra IO board that made it perform the way it did.

Anyways, as the picture shows, its pretty damn packed in there. Which suggests that G5 portables are probably still a long ways ahead. I think I bought my Powerbook at a very appropriate time 😉

I also was able to get the lowdown on the whole “Gold/Silver/etc.” service ratings the Apple distributors here have… and I quote:

Being a Gold Service Center means that we have the most numbers of certified engineers who passed all the trainings and tests given by Apple itself. Also, we are entitled to repair all Apple products and have all the parts directly ordered via direct access to Apple Service.

Schweeeeeeet!

Have a say
