My first Powerbook post

“View product page”

Sorry for the late post it was a busy day for me yesterday (which is when most of the events of this post took place). Had a conference call in the morning right after which, my Powerbook finally arrived (before lunch). We had a pending document to finish however, so I had to de-prioritize it.

Here’s a pic anyway:

*truly, a thing of beauty*

Quick first impressions:

  • It’s divinely sexy – For me, the look alone can make you choose it over an iBook (assuming they had the same specs).
  • Protouch – though not standard issue, I’d recommend this to anyone, keeps your keyboard (and everything under the keys) clean. It also allows you to EAT while using the Mac without hurting your heart hehehe.
  • Powersleevz – I had to swing by Megamall as the shop I got it from had ran out of stocks… another must have. Sort of a basic necessity if you plan to put your book on different bags, and want to keep the scratches off of it.
  • I’m really not used to trackpads, or any laptop interface device. I’m planning to get a USB optical mouse to ease my pain (clicking on this thing is absolute hell at the moment)
  • After a LONG time, I notice the power cord “turns off” – meaning it doesnt light, or charge, even if it’s connected to the socket. I reconnected it and everything went fine. But waking up the next morning (which is today), the same thing happened. Does the powerblock have some sort of “breaker” in it which automatically trips the circuit after long periods of plugged in time?
  • Networking to windows via native Panther is a joy. I remember using Dave at some point when I fiddled with a Cube… only thing left is to get my PC to see the Powerbook.

More stories (if applicable) on a later date, but due to polular demands of friends that I post pics… I’ve posted that pic above.

There you have it – my first official blog entry using a Powerbook!

  1. Baliktad tayo. I prefer the white plastic iBook look to the aluminum PowerBook look. In fact, my dream machine is a white plastic 17″ PowerBook.

Which is why I’ll probably why I should just get a 20″ iMac G5 and put it in a maleta. Ha ha ha. Sanay naman ako sa monster bags…

And even on my desktop, I use a trackpad, as I prefer them to mice! Wala lang.

But you’re ‘one of us’ now. Congratulations!

  2. I have the same PB. My one regret was switching to Panther. I found it less stable than Jaguar. I do like Expose, but that’s about the only good useful thing.

Have a say
