Green Archers win!

Wooooooohoooooooo!

Yes! *fist pump*

This time I could say it was a nice game. It really helps to watch on the TV – as you can be at peace with whatever kind of “dubious” foul that may have been called. Thank God for replays.

Congratulations to everyone: Ateneo for putting up a good fight. La Salle for putting up a better fight till the last minute. The referees for being steadfast – despite their unenviable task of earning the ire of the losing schools.

I’d be at peace to whoever won this game. Kse twice to beat naman yung La Salle eh hehehehe. But winning regardless of that fact, just shows how much La Salle wanted it. Being beaten after a 13-0 winning streak and ultimately eliminated (2 years ago), one can understand why.

But that was two years ago – so I’d just like to think that they’ve simply upped their game. They played smart, trying to get the better of their opponents mentally as well as physically. That much was apparent when a lot of whiteshirts lost their cool during the scrambles.

I was in disbelief that the big men of La Salle were mostly clean of fouls the whole first half. Then I saw the plays wherein Cabatu would get mad at Gaco for fouling on the inside… I then confirmed they were purposely trying to keep their fouls down for when the going got tough. Did a possible “dub” on what they might’ve been saying:

CABATU (to Gaco): Love naman, wag kang rough… sa akin ka lang puwede maging rough.

Hwehwehwehwe.

Regardless of what strategy they might’ve employed. I’d say they did an awesome job of dismantling the defense.

With all the adjustments of the teams towards the early Ateneo juggernaut. I remember what I’ve heard from my sister (which I think she heard from someone else)

La Salle is finally playing the way everyone expected them to. And sadly, Ateneo too, had to experience a blast from the past, as they were beginning to play the way everyone expected them.

This is of course pertaining to the rankings everyone guessed at the start of the season.

Would’ve Larry Fonacier made a difference if he hadn’t been injured? Perhaps, perhaps not. Ateneo’s chances of winning with him, or losing with him is pretty much the same IMHO. What might’ve been is simply hindsight and is lost for all eternity. Since everyone has adjusted to their playing style this season, it would be pointless to second guess. The season, the games, the players, everything was set fair and square, and it just so happened that this year, it was La Salle’s turn to face FEU.

Having said that, I’m not sure if I want to watch the finals or not, since it’s not a ADMU-DLSU game, it would probably be boring (unless you’re a die hard UAAP fan of course). For me, there’s just this magic in the air when arch-rivals slug it out… and that, more than the game itself, makes it worth watching.

So until next season!

Have a say
