MT Blacklist 2.0e(mergency) released

Jay Allen has released a MovableType 3.x compatible version of his award winning MT-Blacklist plugin.

Unfortunately, I tried it and it still wont work (I think my host doesn’t have the perl storable module installed). Since he has a disclaimer that this emergency beta release has no tech support whatsoever, I guess I’m outta luck.

CSS Zen Garden

I’ve been wanting to be more fluent with the web-standards today, but I never had the time to keep up with the constant revisions.

This site however, is probably the direction which I want my web development style to take. It validates as <insert web standard here> strict, which is very impressive because of the functionality (and sheer eye candy) it can achieve. Even the best design sites of today had to compromize at some point when it came to visual excellence and standards implementation.

Solid-state hard disks

I distinctly remember mentioning something about platter-based hard drives:

If solid-state devices would just have enough darned bandwidth to match consumer hard disk performance, then we could phase out platter-based hard disks entirely.

Just a few more years(?) and that dream may be an affordable reality.

The good news is that production of such technology is possible nowadays. The site mentioned, shows how solid state storage devices have been integrated with the standard “interface” architectures (IDE/ATA) used in consumer computing.

The bad news however, is that they are sold at a premium of 1kUSD per GigaByte. 30GB = 30 grand – more than enough to purchase your own personal mini-server farm (or buy a car, whichever you prefer).

Half-life script rumored to be leaked

Valve, in its infinite wisdom, has been rumored to include the full story/script text of the much anticipated sequel in Counter-Strike distributions to cyber-cafe’s.

It’s just a rumor though, but if it were true, why would they include the story in the first place? I hope that doesnt reach me, as I’m tempted to read it, but wouldn’t want the game experience to be spolied.

Micro$oft stuff

A few developments with Microsoft:

Service pack 2, which claims to be an “integral” security update to the uber-exploitable XP operating system, has caused quite a stir recently since it was also said to “break” a bunch of software because of compatibility issues.

Microsoft does not deny this fact, and has posted an detailed page in their knowledgebase with a list of software that don’t play nice with SP2. However, it also posts a complete list of bugs fixed (for all its worth), to make us feel better.

Also worth mentioning are some updates both on their software, and hardware

Interesting to see biometrics slowly taking part in consumer technology, but is it mature enough to handle the stress?

Also I just had to mention MS Works because of the irony it implies when taken as a senteceMicrosoft works. The irony becomes double funny taken in light of SP2 where it even “breaks” other Microsoft applications.

Shyamalan accused of plagarism

M. Night Shyamalan can be in trouble, as claims of plagarism have rised from the movie The Village.

Protesters have claimed that The Village was startingly similar to Margaret Peterson Haddix’s book; Running Out of Time. Check out the Q&A on her site for information about the book.

I’m inclined to think of it as an amazing coincidence, but I feel sorry for him nonetheless.

On another note, a lot of people hated the movie. I guess it’s true what I said of it being a love or hate kind of flick. I particularly liked it. I just wish people would cut him some slack for his work – it’s understandable to expect the best from someone (especially since you pay to watch it), but to take it against him if he should falter is simply unfair. I’d love to see those people who diss him, make better movies than him. And besides, if the story is similar to Haddix’s, I don’t see people dissing her book.

French Connection UK to retire FCUK slogan?

Read the article for more info…

Though the logo is obviously a play on the word, it would be more exciting for it to be related somehow. Sales are probably down because people think that they’re all bark but no bite hehehehe.

Helicopter fuck

He have hair on his head. but He has no hair on his penis and nats’ sack because he pull out hair of penis by tweezer. Not cutting, but pulling out it.

This is just twistedly insane hehehe. The site’s hilarious.

NOTE: I believe the content in the site can be considered x-rated. I particularly don’t mind or think so, but be warned nonetheless.

Clever lube advertisments

Since were on a sort of “sexual” topic, here’s another clever ad. I can’t help but remember an ad that circulated years ago with the same cleverness.

Kleer Drain!

I wish they have Kleer Drain here in the Philippines… they probably will though. I’ve always loved going to the local hardware store to check out the new cool useless stuff I could… errr… not-use.

Kleer Drain however, is different. It is useful and would make a great wedding gift – for future homes or some kinky shit (pun intended) hahahaha

SyncITBaby

As one site would eloquently put it:

But the best part about this product is the ad they use to promote it. Too attractive female roomates yap about the features in a way that makes you actually care. Well, make a guy care at least.

In fairness, it seems like a useful tool for those mobile and busy.

Have a say
