Another question to the lawyers

I was reading Punzi’s blog and I noticed he had the lawyers oath posted on the side:

The Lawyer’s Oath

I, having been permitted to continue in the practice of law in the Philippines, do solemnly swear that I recognize the supreme authority of the Republic of the Philippines; I will support its Constitution and obey the laws as well as the legal orders of the duly constituted authorities therein; I will do no falsehood, nor consent to the doing of any in court; I will not wittingly or willingly promote or sue any groundless, false or unlawful suit, nor give aid nor consent to the same; I will delay no man for money or malice, and will conduct myself as a lawyer according to the best of my knowledge and discretion with all good fidelity as well to the courts as to my clients; and I impose upon myself this voluntary obligation without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion. So help me God.

There’s something that I couldn’t get my head around.

Net Neutrality

I was thinking a possible conspiracy theory behind the whole Net Neutrality thing. For those who don’t know what Net Neutrality is (quoted from wikipedia)

It identifies network bias toward or against particular classes of application or providers of content or services.

The general principle that network providers should not discriminate between people or organizations that provide services over a network. Companies selling broadband Internet access to consumers should not make contracts with service providers (such as websites) to provide better Internet access than is available for service providers who don’t have such agreements.

In the Philippines it really doesn’t matter because we’ve already lost the battle. Our telcos pretty much have a monopoly over the communication resources – so we are all already living in a world where “Net Neutrality” is already a lost cause.

South Park composite sketches

Just thought I’d share this. I saw an episode in South Park showing a sketch of what the four boys would probably look like in real life (and not to mention that the characters thought they were bad drawings hehehehe.

Oh and so not to waste postage “space,” lemme include their response to the Church of Scientology after successfully preventing a repeat of episode 12 of season 9:

“So, Scientology, you may have won this battle, but the million-year war for Earth has just begun! Temporarily anozinizing our episode will not stop us from keeping Thetans forever trapped in your pitiful man-bodies. Curses and drat! You have obstructed us for now, but your feeble bid to save humanity will fail! Hail Xenu!!!”

My favorite sports ads

I remember when I was working in iAyala, that we used to surf Ad-Critic when it was still free, and one of my favorite ads were Fox Regional Sports wherein the concept was for them to show really absurd “sports” just to prove how far they will go to cover regional sporting events.

I must say I loved them.

Pirate POV

I’m we all know how thepiratebay was raided a while back (and has since gone back up). But this particular incident really got the whole P2P community up and arms and hopefully would do some serious damage to those “legal” entities that try to bully those who support P2P.

Anyways, I’m commenting on the speech of Rickard Falkvinge, the “leader” of the Swedish Pirate Party during the Pirate Bay support demonstration.

The translation of the speech is found here

I’d really urge everyone to read it as it was a very enlightening read to how “pirates” minds work.
