On Religion

I just got to listen to some radio interview which got me interested in talking about some issues. I’ll explain the “trigger” in a latter post, but suffice to say I’ll probably write a series of posts sensitive topics we usually encounter.

I’ll call it The Political Incorrect Series, In which I plan to give my 2 cents worth on gender, the handicapped, and race. But first off, my favorite: RELIGION.

Forcing a Time Machine size limit

After getting my Time Capsule, I’ve now started using Time Machine (TM) to backup my data.

The “image” file TM uses is variable. Upon the creation and first backup; it starts out small (or whatever size the data you’ve just backed up). It does however grow over time as it tries to retain copies of old files as well. So basically the bigger the space it can work with, the further “back in time” you could restore your files as it were.

Now that’s all fine and dandy, but they should really give the user an option to specify how big they allow this image to be. And I’ll explain in a sec why this is something you’d want… as well as how to accomplish it. Read More

Call to boycott Creative Labs

I invite everyone to take a look at this thread… and be utterly disgusted. I also invite anyone who has time to spare, to do whatever you can in decreasing the market share of Creative Labs products.

I know that the influence of the internet is a very small percentage in affecting the bottom-line of hardware manufacturers such as this. The beauty of the web is that it doesn’t take much effort to be heard – no matter how small you are. So unlike trying to fix governments, the phrase “do your part, no matter how small” certainly applies here.

Read on if you want my detailed opinion on the matter…

The best LOST theory out there

For those of you who, like me, have given up on LOST simply because it took too goddamn long to resolve anything, here’s some guy’s take which is very compelling.

Don’t get me wrong, I think LOST is an awesome concept, and I don’t think less of anyone who has diligently watched every episode till now. It’s just that honestly, for a series that has that much of complexity in the concept alone, you really should limit how many seasons it will run and make sure it resolves by then. Right now it’s like they’re extending the seasons just because of the ratings and not necessarily because the story needs that much seasons to unravel.

Or they could at least try doing it a-la Heroes; where it answers a ton of questions as fast as it can (sometimes even within the season). That way, even if new questions/issues arise – nothing is compounded; and the viewers have to come to grips with less of a mind-fuck.
