Moleskine

I was able to buy Moleskine notebooks for me and my girlfriend. These notebooks are awesome, and would make perfect gifts if only they weren’t so damn expensive. The pocket versions cost PhP 900 locally (I got the regular/large sizes, which set you back PhP 1,250 each).

Moleskine notebooks are somewhat cult-products in my opinion. While it’s true that the craftsmanship is second to none, the real appeal of the brand comes from the fact that famous people use it. To quote the site:

MOLESKINE is the legendary notebook, used by artists and thinkers for the past two centuries, from Van Gogh to Picasso, from Ernest Hemingway to Bruce Chatwin.

Still, it’s the sort of thing that not everyone would know about, I myself became aware of it when I saw Rica with it, and it looked damned sexy, then the other “more literate” 1 Hardcore bookworms BP members started talking about it. Hell, my GF is pretty hardcore when it comes to books, but she hasn’t heard of it as well. In any case, I’m sure she’ll like what I got her since she keeps a journal. As I would always say: “if you’re going to do something, might as well do it in style!”

I got her the ruled version, while I stuck to the classic plain (non-ruled) because I want the freedom to decide how much I can cram into a page. I’ll probably use it to jot lyrics/ideas for my compositions and diagrams of chords to make it easier to remember exactly what fingering I used when I made them.
