As much I hate to admit it, sometimes a corrupt system has its benefits. From the tong-able traffic enforcers, to the fixers in the LTO.
But in all fairness, usually these unfortunate “technicalities” I don’t mind playing into usually just have to do with not being able to get things done because of futher red-tape. I guess if you’re caught and given a ticket, it would be fine if you can get your driver’s license back easily. Or you’d probably not go through fixers if they actually fixed the inherent slowness of data-processing in LTO’s system. And someone still hasn’t explained why the fuck they need to take two different digital pictures, at two different places, at two different times! Haven’t these guys heard of the term file-copying?
You know what? I don’t even know why I’m explaining myself, do whatever the hell you want to do – I’ll do whatever’s quickest. But that’s not the point of my post. The “corruption” i’m talking about is in the Ateneo system itself… and God bless them hahaha.
I had to get college transcripts for both me and my sister. GP told me of a certain person to talk to at a certain office who can get the job done in a couple of hours. I was able to get my transcript processed and ready the same day – let me correct myself: I was able to get both my sister’s and mine processed before the telephone conversation ended. 5 copies of each at that.
Eto na ho sir, pinoprocess ko na, pede mo na daanan kahit kelan.
Oh di ba? Panalo!
While I was at it, I asked about my diploma, since I never recalled getting it (and honestly I really didn’t care about it), but my mom told me my sister needed hers, so I might as well just ask about mine too, after five years, when I swing by.
I left with mine. (I couldn’t get Pia’s because of further complications).
Of course getting a diploma must be much easier than getting transcripts, but still I was really pleased by how efficient people can become when you actually just forego all the red-tape involved in processing. It just proves that it is possible to process fast, employees simply choose not to do it. So I really don’t mind if the person pocketed the “processing fee” or not, because if they were able to accomplish whatever the school is supposed to do in the first place, then by all means, they deserved to be paid… not the school.
Another good thing was the PABX answering service of the school:
Thank you for calling Ateneo…
Finally, the proper way to address a proper noun!
It’s “Ateneo,” plain and simple… not The Ateneo… end of story… shut up… fuck you. hehehe.
I guess the school is pretty decent after all, it’s just the students that are retards.

Fucking hilarious. THE Ateneo. Haha.
