Been fiddling around with Vimeo and I must say, I like what I see, especially the “password” protection feature for the videos. I’ve included an “insider” video for my fellow BP members. If you want to see it, just IM me and I’ll tell you the password.
E-mail Optimization Tips
Here’s another one of the more useful posts I’ll be doing. Partly so that I can remind myself the steps needed to perform this somewhat convoluted approach to getting the best “setup” for iPhone and desktop mail use.
Why GMail Rocks
The best thing about GMail is the free IMAP support it has. For the uninitiated, make sure you read the advantages of IMAP over POP3 (referred to as POP from now on) in their respective wiki pages.
Of course GMail, just like any other competent email service, supports POP as well as the ability to retrieve mail from external accounts (via POP) as well. Not sure if it’s the same for other services, but this feature is free as well.
Couple that with IMAP accessibility, and lets not forget the gigabytes of space – and you basically have a powerful tool of accessing practically all your email in one place.
Refining it Further
Given the tools at your disposal, let me describe how I’ve setup my “mail workflow” – hopefully you can also find it useful in your situation.
You will shit bricks
Simply breathtaking.
iPod/iPhone: upgrading to 2.0.1
I’ve just upgraded [the Operating System of] both my units to v2.0.1; here are some things keep in mind.
Upgrade or not?
If you “update” via a pwned ipsw sure, but if not (meaning you plan to use the legit Apple upgrade) here’s what’s in store for you; quoted from the DevTeam (rephrased, since to reflect the release of the tool)
If you own a first generation (2G iPhone), you don’t have to worry, PwnageTool will get you where you want even if it you prematurely updated. 2G is completely pwned at every conceivable level and you’ll always be OK. But if you own a 3G iPhone and are looking for unlock in the near future, don’t use Apple’s update.
If your 3G iPhone is on a regular contract and you always plan to be with the carrier then you can update but you will lose the jailbreak and access to third party (non AppStore) applications.
If your 3G iPhone is not on a regular contract and you plan to use it on an alternative network to the carrier that supplied it then do not update unless you do it with the new PwnageTool.
For other points discussed below, I’m assuming a jailbroken scenario.
No room for losers
I know I have this sick sense of “justice” – regardless, this just made me smile.
A South Korean man won his appeal against a one-year jail term for assisting in a suicide by throwing a lighter to his gasoline-soaked rival in love.
The Seoul appeal court reversed a lower court ruling, saying that the 30-year-old man had not believed the ex-lover of his girlfriend would actually set light to himself.
Last September, the former boyfriend had stopped the couple in their car after dousing himself in petrol, threatening to kill himself if she did not get out.
The defendant then threw him a lighter, saying: “Go ahead and kill yourself,” the news agency said.
