His Dark Materials

Looks Like Jeline was right, I’m now engrossed in Philip Pullman’s “His Dark Materials” trilogy. I’m currently listening to the second book “The Subtle Knife.”

And in case you’re reading this Jeline, to address your curiousness as to the “caliber” of the audiobook; It’s read by the author himself, along with a full cast 🙂

Again, thanks for the recommendation.

The Power of Nightmares

I just got to watch BBC’s three-part documentary/series “The Power of Nightmares.” I wouldn’t say it was an eye-opener, but I can say that it would be good for everyone to watch it – so long as you have an open mind.

I guess the good thing about this documentary is how it explains the danger from both sides. How a government can abuse and use fear to control society, and how even noble causes can mutate into idealism that’s no better than the system they wish to abolish.

Rewriting history

Here’s a BukasPalad song arranged by my friend as performed by the Philippine Madrigal Singers.

iTunes 7 – looking good!

I finally had the time to upgrade iTunes to version 7, I must say that the improvements in this build are pretty impressive.

Tasks View

This can get very irritating if you’re downloading a lot of podcasts, then are listening to something. Say you want to change the playhead position on that song – you’ll have to cycling though the different tasks until you see the “task” for the current playing song.

Apple has solved that by putting it on a separate page view:

Battery-talk

I was able to get my replacement battery for my powerbook and the replacement battery grip for my 20D today. It all happened at the last-minute. My supplier said the battery was available for pick-up. I thought I should call Canon as well to check if the grip was done as well (since both were in the same area).

Luckily, both were ready. Plus the driver wasn’t doing anything today, which was a godsend. There’s nothng better than not having to think about parking in those parts of Makati.

Also, the bottom case of my powerbook will be replaced as well… I swear, I could start selling this powerbook at a really good price as it practically will be in a refurbished condition. Any takers?
