As an alumnus of the school [Ateneo], I received this letter…

(Note: On Oct. 5, 2006, a global survey of higher educational institutions — the Times Higher Education Supplement – Quacquarelli Symonds [THES-QS] World University Rankings — was released. Among thousands of universities surveyed, 4 from the Philippines made it to the top 500. These are the University of the Philippines [299th], De La Salle University [392nd], Ateneo de Manila University [484th], and the University of Santo Tomas [500th]. Virtual insanity

True to Jamiroquai’s lyrics, it seems that I’ve been on an OS installation frenzy.

Virtualization has made it so easy to test different OSes. Right now I got 2 variations of each of the three OSes – namely Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Ubuntu. Each having a working image, and an image from when I first installed them (base installation). This should make it easier for when I bollocks any of them up and need to “reformat.”

Add the default OS (OSX) and that’s seven OS variations to play with all in all. Here’s what my Parallels folder looks like as of the moment.

Here are real-world examples of how the new MBPs perform. The purpose of the videos isn’t so much as to show how much faster (or slower) it may be compared to other systems – but to ease Apple users’ minds should they be considering an upgrade.

First I’d like to apologize for the horrible video quality. I was using an external iSight which had a hard time focusing (it would switch focus every few seconds, so I had to kill the auto-focus) The movie was captured using a small resolution setting so YouTube then blew it up… and ergo the blurriness.
