Cross posting re-done

My friend asked me a few days ago about where I find the time “maintaining” all my social networking accounts and post to every single one of them (when she tried checking them out). She doesn’t realize that as far as “blogging” is concerned, there’s only one place I post from: my desktop – using Ecto.

What happens is that I draft the entry via Ecto, then post it to my main site ([www.nargalzius.com]()). Once it hits the site, I’ve got a bunch of WordPress plugins installed that handle cross-posting to other applicable social networks.

Having said that, it’s been a while since I checked out the possibility of expanding the cross-posting functionality of my blog. So I decided to check out if I could finally post to even more accounts in one go. Read More

Health Talk

One of the podcasts on internet security I listen to went off-topic for a whole episode to talk about health. What I heard was very interesting, and if you have been following the said podcast, you’ll know that Mr. Gibson is a very respectable fellow. So hearing him take a time out from talking about security, and go into the topic of Vitamin D was something I definitely was willing to listen to. After all it doesn’t hurt to listen right?

I’ll try to summarize the key points I personally found useful (and some of my observations), but if you want the full text (he’s pretty awesome in explaining very complex stuff in laymans terms), you can read it here Read More

Over-engineered

This is a “how-to” post; particularly how to “marry” a Fox Remote RL cable holder assembly fork-mount with a Topeak A1 [front] Air Fender.

I’m a Topeak whore. I just love the bicycle accessories they produce; as they are really useful. One of the most useful accessories they’ve got are what they call “Air Fenders” – which are basically removable, inflatable mud-guards. Naturally being inflatable, you can deflate them; and wrap them up and store them in your bag – which is exactly why they’re awesome…

… until I changed my fork to a F-Series F100 Remote RL.

You see, the rear fender connects via a seatpost collar clamp, while the front fender mounts inside the fork-tube from below. The latter was hindered by the fact that the cable holder assembly of the new fork was in the way.

After a few weeks of riding. I thought about it, and confirmed with the Fox service center that taking this assembly out is of no consequence. So that’s exactly what I did – but that wasn’t the end of it. Read More

Bike Cleaning

One of the first things I did when I got into biking, was thoroughly research bike maintenance. Naturally cleaning was a part of it. And I was lucky to be able to source a DVD wherein there was a segment showing how a Shimano tech would clean his bike; mentioning stuff to look out for, etc. etc.

I thought I’d share the procedure because it really is pretty simple to do, but not as straightforward if you want to maintain the longevity of your components. Read More

Give our Apple back!

Lousy title, I know. But I can’t help but feel so disappointed with Apple as of late.

Little by little, just as I’ve stated in a(n inaccurate) previous post:

Seriously, someone should file an anti-trust case against these guys for monopoly. I’m baffled as to why Microsoft is the only one being scrutinized for such “practices” – when Apple seems to have been doing it since the release of the iPod.

That was written January 2007 (and I’m sure their practices have been going on longer than that) But it looks like the world is finally seeing Apple as a “bad guy.” Read More
