Capdase Alumor Bumper

I think I’ve come across what I believe to be the best iPhone4 case… so far.

There are many types of cases, and I’ve had my fair share of them. But over the years, I’ve personally come to the conclusion that one of the most well-balanced (ergo, best) case for the iPhone4 is an honest to goodness, well-designed bumper-type case.

In fact, it’s really not a stretch to say that the Apple official bumper has been one of the most surprising revelations I’ve come across when I bought one (for the heck of it) during my last trip to the US.

And in this post, I’ll be talking about a case I came across today while killing time in the mall: The Capdase Alumor Bumper Read More

iPhone 4S Impressions

So I got myself a 4S… you know… because I fuckin’ can 😉 Just kidding, but that’s beside the point.

The point is I’m posting because my friends/readers wanna know what I think of it. Because there’s that whole “is the improvement worth replacing the my current iPhone with?”

There are two answers to that, depending on your “iPhone” if you’re using anything older than a 4, then yes – for the simple reason that even the iPhone 4 was already a drastic improvement over its predecessor. Now if you already have an iPhone 4, the answer would depend on what “feature” appeals to you – factoring in how you use your phone everyday.

Personally, I bought the 4S because of the improved camera. When it comes to photography, it’s very difficult to judge “incremental upgrades” at face value – because when it comes to photo quality, any upgrade, no matter how small – is always worth consideration. 1 A camera could have the same exact specifications but improve drastically in one area such as low light, and that to me already would be worth upgrading to

Then there’s a matter of Siri – which currently works exclusively with the 4S. I can only assume it’s part of Apple’s marketing strategy – as I see no reason why it wouldn’t be able to run (albeit slower) on even a non A5 chip. 2 Or at the very least, it should be able to work with the iPad2s – since they use the same chip.

So now that I’ve gotten to play with it, what do I think? Read on… Read More

Backlog: Views on Sex

I may not be blogging as often as I used to, but I actually have a bunch of blog “drafts” that were never posted/published. Starting a post is easy enough – but finishing it is difficult. Most of my unpublished stuff are due to that: I feel strongly about something, then I start typing away. But more often than not, the issue had already passed, and I’m still not done with the post – so the post suddenly becomes out of context – and therefore, useless.

I revisited one of my “drafts” and sure enough, it suffered from the issue I just mentioned earlier. It was about my reaction of some article by some [anti] RH Bill proponent.

But you know what? I figured what the hell; I don’t see any other time where posting this would be appropriate again so might as well just put it out there anyways for anyone who’s interested. Besides, even if the “issue” per se isn’t as relevant today. It still passes as one of my typical “perspective posts” Read More

Abstraction

Abstraction is a term programmers like to use – the concept of which is basically to approach/tackle a problem CONCEPTUALLY rather than with specific tools. In other words, if applied properly, you’d be able to do whatever it is you intend to do without being tied to a specific requirement (e.g. “I can’t do this unless I have this specific piece of equipment”)

So why the hell am I talking about that right now? Nothing important, can’t a guy shoot the breeze once in a while? It’s been ages since I talked about something in the blog anyways 😉

But sure, let’s apply that a bit on a current experience. Read More

Closure

It’s amusing that I’m reading the Song of Ice and Fire series – because one of the prominent houses has this saying:

A Lannister always pays his debts.

The saying had always struck a chord in me – possibly because of its clear ambiguity (how’s that for an oxymoron?). To me the saying is a nice summary of how I usually live my life. To me, everything is relative… but I do pay my dues.

I’m not a “good” person – to be sure. Altruism was never a concept that appealed to me – that’s why I never fully bought the “morality” that Religion tries to instill on its followers. Still, if I did something “wrong,” (to whatever standard) I make up for it. If not directly, in some other form. Whatever the case may be, I do pay my debts.

I may be proud, proud enough to engage in heated debate to prove myself right – even if it’s just for sport. Sometimes it’s simply because I end up being right, other times its simply because the things I claim haven’t been proven otherwise. 1 Again, if your “proof” is simply based on what ought to be instead of what really, truly is – then you’re at a disadvantage when debating with me

But those who know me well enough know this much: when I am wrong, or if there’s something amiss, I’m the first to acknowledge it. Such are the thoughts I have on the issue that triggered this post. Read More
