Little color change

Literally, I changed the color scheme of the site a little. So little, you might even be wondering what the hell I changed.

I dropped the traces of blue (headers, etc.) in favor of green just so it would gel with the rest of site. No, this has nothing to do with the school I’m partial to (come to think of it, i wonder if it was a subliminal action that I started with blue and green as the color combination – which doesn’t make sense design-wise)

Anyways, I had to drop one or the other, and I already had too many green hues in my stylesheet (gradients, the calendar, the alternating table colors), so it made more sense to change the little blues here and there, rather than convert a ton of greens.

I kept the old images though, I could put it back if people say the old style looked better.

Guitar Rig sample

I’ve recorded a “lick” using Native Instrument’s Guitar Rig 2 instead of the GT-8. I must say I’m leaning towards using GR2 over the GT-8 since it’s much more flexible. You can record a guitar dry signal and just mix and match effects on post-process. This makes it possible to improve/change the tone if you suddenly realized that you wanted a “different sound.” This was also a perfect opportunity to brush up on my guitar tapping technique – I’m so out of practice and it shows hahahaha.

I also tried using Toontrack’s DFH EZDrummer. I must say it is quite impressive considering it’s a really stripped down drum module with not nearly enough features as a Battery or BFD, but it gets the job done for quick and dirty tracking. Perfect if you want “decent” drums but have no time to really set it up. Of course when you start finalizing your songs, it would be andvisable to swap in the more robust drum modules in place of EZDrummer.

When was the last time I did this

Got this from Jem. Pretty cool because I was thinking the same thing hahaha.

Of the last 48 hours

Now you see it – now you don’t

Today was pretty boring – which wasn’t supposed to be the case since I got my powerbook back yesterday. But was pulled out again today.

Apparently when they said they’d do a full diagnostics check – they meant the opposite. I eventually opened up the laptop’s backplate and was staring down at two 512MB DIMMs – which is correct. So why do I mention it? Because the OS is only reporting 512MB of RAM instead of a gig! At least they were commited to replacing the logic board.

Once that’s done, I will now be able to enumerate the stuff that hasn’t been replaced:

  1. Superdrive.
  2. LCD shell (the LCD itself has been replaced)
  3. Keyboard.
  4. All inner-components except for the logic board.
  5. Battery.
  6. RAM DIMMs

Can’t help but wonder if I had just saved all of those, and just asked for a new MacBook or something hehehe – I can dream can’t I? Sobrang na-sulit ko na yung warranty. – and still got a whole year to go! Read More
