By my powers of deduction, I’m now left with only one possible explanation of their predicament: Outdated software. The version I installed was 3.xx, maybe upgrading (ergo having a build with less bugs theoretically) would solve their problems as well.

So for anyone else who’s experiencing problems, try making sure you have the latest build of your reader… if the problem persists – give me a holler.

nBlog’s comments section

Just like how I check
Mail.app
‘s trash 1 Which SpamSieve deposits flagged spam files into every so often, or Google’s Spam folder once in a while (to check if a few legitimate mails got flagged as spam), I also decided to check on my weblog’s junk comments folder. Lo and behold, there were a bunch of comments that were flagged (and thus never posted).

I have no idea how those got flagged, but the common thing there was they both had Blogspot URLs, which is weird since Third is on Blogspot, but seems to be able to comment just fine. I better look into this, but in the meantime, I’ll just have to check the junk comments folder more often than usual. It also would be cool if commenters leave me a message as soon as they don’t see their message appear even after entering the correct challenge code.

Social Networking Sites

I have my first Facebook friend now, GP to be precise hehehehe. It’s sad though that while Facebook is easily the best [looking] social networking site out there, might not be able to make people in the Philippines shift from Multiply or Friendster.

I was also compelled to sign-up for Multiply simply because everyone I knew was on it already – what’s the point of social networking if you have no one to “network” with right? And I must say I am impressed on what they have to offer. I haven’t really read the restrictions, but I’m led to believe that they offer very generous storage capacities for audio/video/photos. Put that in with the fact that they got blogs, and their RSS feeds put in updates to ALL sections (blog entries, photos, links, etc.) It’s a very good way to consolidate information and announce it to the world at the same time – plus, it’s free.

I’m still not using it [and its features] though, for a couple of reasons.

Flickr‘s got more useful features (notes!), plus I like my gallery‘s layout better… and lastly, I’ve already spent too much time and effort modifying my lightbox code to work seamlessly with both.

Me preferring my music section is easy. I just have a better implementation hahahaha. You can play my shit from the page itself (without having to navigate to yet another page). Comes with comprehensive info and a neat flash-player, all via
AJAX
-y goodness! Hell, you can even play the audio clips from a blog entry as well.

Simply put, I’m able to use all the third-party “services” I prefer to use, and integrate them into my site instead of relying on one single service to handle the different media format. I’m sure it has it’s benefits but looking at how People like jumping from one service to another 2 First Friendster, now Multiply, what’s next? I’d hate to put all my eggs in a basket I don’t own, and have to go through a lot of trouble to “move” all my existing collateral to whatever new service I choose to go with next.

It’s a similar strategy I use with email. Regardless if I change email providers, people will still reach me with my yahoo address – I simply tell it to forward it to whatever primary mailserver of choice I have a the moment. It’s really the same thing: regardless of what 3rd-party video/photo service I end up using, people will still find me via www.nargalzius.com – where I’ve always been, where I [hopefully] always will be.

Linkage

Due to the en masse shift of people to Multiply, I’ve noticed that it has become extremely difficult to edit my links because I had them display the name of the person’s blog – which can be confusing. So I now have it display the names of the people, and what type of site they’re on when mouseovered.

House

On a totally unrelated note. I’m now on the second season of House. Awesome show! I’d even go as far as to say that I’m hard pressed to even want to continue with Grey’s Anatomy after seeing this. After watching House, Grey’s Anatomy suddenly seems like too much of a love story for me now. I might end up just getting pissed off because of the “oh poor me, my heart has been hurt” plotlines, instead of the more literal “my
<insert organ here>
hurts” plotline House usually has.

Not to mention that House’s character is simply awesome. He’s the perfect human to be in society nowadays. A bit on the bitter side sure, but considering how much humanity has digressed into “compromising politeness,” it’s good to see a person who simply does his job brilliantly with complete disregard of everything that can hinder performance, namely politics.

Him being superior, cold, distant, and uncaring are just bonuses hahahaha.

Notes[+]

Notes

⇡1

Which SpamSieve deposits flagged spam files into

⇡2

First Friendster, now Multiply, what’s next?

function footnote_expand_reference_container_525_1() { jQuery('#footnote_references_container_525_1').show();
