Talk about finding ways to make internet life miserable.

The famous high-quality, low filesize PNG image format seems to suffer the same fate.

This long, but well thought article talks about how increased income in fact, makes people happier – it’s just a matter of perspective. I suggest anyone with the time and patience to read it. It’s very solid stuff.

My personal take on the matter is that if a person still isn’t happy after aquiring loads of money, isn’t really because money can’t buy him/her happiness… but either because of two reasons:

1) Insatiability.
2) They don’t know what they want.

Even if the first is human nature, that can still be remedied if we have an idea of what we want at any particular time. If you know what you want at a given time (no matter how temporary it is), and if you have the capital to acquire such, you’d have to be an idiot (or mentally ill) to not be happier than before.

Having said that… who still says money can’t buy happiness? 😉

I remember watching Fraggle Rock as a child! Now it’s back on DVD!

Remember that post I had about my opinion on the Apple-Real controversy? Seems like someone in the news industry shared the same sentiments

A follow up post/article pointed out the danger of having an “authoritative” opinion about the matter, as cNET news is considered a professional news source.

The mentioned reply I believe was a fair assessment. The opinions of the editor of the article in question were indeed sound, but posting in such context (a professional news source) may have been inappropriate.

I’ve already mentioned that it’s not advisable to buy RAM anytime soon.

You should keep your eyes peeled however for a possible drop in graphics card prices. It’s sad that nVidia has declining profits. But the good news for us end users is that if prices do drop, I guess nVidia will be first to take the plunge. Since the current nVidia flagship seems to beat its ATI counterpart, doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know what this spells.

An interesting read about how the US is conducting a study on compensation schemes with startups. The funny thing is no matter how “low” the US salaries go, they’ll still be better off than us poor 3rd world countries – where sometimes, salaries can’t even compensate for basic stuff like transportation! Now isn’t that so sad – going to work so you can be in DEBT?

XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) has gone gold! With all the security issues flying back and forth these times, I bet everyone has been waiting for this.

For those who don’t know. When something in the software world goes gold, it doesn’t mean it aquired x amount of sales like an album in the music industry, but rather that it is ready to be code-released (out of beta stage).

Read this article – I still stand by what Jodie Foster said in the movie Contact

But if it’s just us, it would be an awful waste of space.

Another set of WebNews!
