Visitor Calligraph Duneshore

Visitor Watch’s Calligraph Duneshore is a very unique piece that doesn’t ascribe to the typical aesthetic you see in other watches. Its case design was inspired by the sloping hills of sand in Dunes National Lakeshore, Indiana – whereas its hands take cues from fountain/calligraphy pens. And in my opinion, it works very well.

Impressions

The watch box itself is a single-watch travel case with compartments for tools and possibly extra straps. A lot of attention to detail was put into this product. Even the embossing on the case was nice and crisp.

I would say the strength of this watch [and probably the most apt term to be throwing at it] would be its presence. The first time I saw the campaign video, it somehow reminded me of a Panerai for some reason. They’re totally different watches, obviously – but for me, the Duneshore could hold its own against the established brand on the presence department. Hell, it even trumps the PAM on the tang buckle design

Looks just as expensive

The display back exposing the workhorse Miyota 9015, is even more stunning to look at

Those curves… that rotor – delicious!

And take a look at that lume. Notice how the sandwich dial works for those little [lumed] minute indices. The white on black date text (also lumed) is not commonly done, but it looks fantastic both in daylight or in the dark. Having a circular date window would’ve probably worked better with the design language, but no biggie.

Conclusion

All in all, wearing the watch is a joy. Its unique enough to pass off as formal or preppy (business casual would be its element), it uses premium materials and is powered by a reliable mechanical movement – what’s not to like?
