Reviving the Blog

Apart from not being able to find a reason to post outside of Facebook, ¹ I normally reserve the really lengthy posts for the blog, but short FB posts seem to get more interaction, so I ended up spending more time there the plugins that were integral to the blog functionality were sorely outdated and no longer maintained/updated – which opened the blog up to code injection and SPAM.

Instead of cleaning up the code, I decided to just take it down and start from scratch with new (hopefully more secure) plugins, and a less complex layout. ² Another reason why I couldn’t just “update” the original code to match the newer requirements

I’m still on the fence on what content I should focus on, though. Moving forward, I guess I might be sticking to product reviews and media posts, but I’m not sure if I should do the usual thorough “perspective” posts – especially since as the years have gone by, people have increasingly become “precious snowflakes” – that you can’t even get into a proper discussion without offending anyone. It’s pretty sad, since it’s those types of conversations I find very interesting and worth talking about – so I really don’t know how that’ll go.

I still have all my old posts, including the mundane, outdated, and even immature (I started this blog in 2004, after all) – but it’s oddly interesting seeing the way you had thought in the past. And all I can say is, I guess it explains why the older you get, the less compelling kids’ concerns tend to be – because man, they can be petty! And this is me, on me years ago 😛 Perhaps I should just put most in private for posterity’s sake.

In any case, without further ado; welcome to the blog/site again.

Don’t mind the broken links or the inconsistent interface(s), they will be sorted out in time. ³ Although do report them to me in case I missed some of them In the meantime, I’m going over through as much past posts to correct/update some code to match the current layout.
